Growing up in Christianity I was always told Christians can't have demons. But my life and experience was very different to that reality, being tormented for years, struggling with addictions depressions, hearing voices that felt dark and oppressive.

No, Christians can't be taken over in possession, but can they have demonic attachments? What does this look like?  How can we get free? And what does scripture say about this?
