Inclusion of Black Lives Matter flag and progress pride flag in classroom sparks controversy

A concerned parent from the Ridgefield School District in Washington raised objections to the presence of a Black Lives Matter flag and a progress pride flag in a math teacher's classroom. The parent accused the teacher of engaging in anti-white propaganda and creating a divisive environment. However, the superintendent of the school district denied taking action, stating that the teacher's First Amendment rights protected the display. The superintendent also argued that the display was not racially discriminatory and cited the endorsement of the black lives matter in school campaign by the OSPI and large Washington schools. The parent subsequently filed a formal complaint citing racial discrimination, but the superintendent refused to take action, claiming that the presence of the flags did not constitute a threat or disruption to the educational environment.
