The Quickie: How to Ask for Help When You Need It (It's Okay To Not Be Okay!)
Life can be complicated AF and everyone needs support along the way…so why is it so hard to ask for it? For most of us, the tendency to keep things bottled in and not ask for help has been reinforced over time, especially in cultures that value independence and “success”. Spoiler alert: it isn’t doing us any good. On the plus side, vulnerability and asking for help are two skills that can be learned, and class is now in session!
Giving and receiving emotional support is essential for us to thrive, and it’s okay to not be okay! So this week we’re getting personal about our own struggles and share some helpful tips on how we can all channel our inner Brené Brown.
Join us as we chat about:
- Cailyn’s struggle with feeling disconnected and overwhelmed
- What holds us back from admitting when we’re not ok
- Why validation is so important
- Going to the right person for help
- How vulnerability strengthens connections
- Being direct about what you need
- Why admitting that you’re not okay isn’t a burden to others
- Letting your friends and family show up for you
- Emphasizing validation over problem-solving
- How self-acceptance can free you
We hope this episode inspires you to ask for help when you need it and show up better for the people who might need you!
