With increasing exports, the industry has gained momentum, but it faces a significant challenge - a shortage of willow trees due to farmers switching to more profitable crops like poplar and rampant smuggling to other bat making centers. If not addressed, this shortage could have catastrophic effects on the industry within the next 5 to 10 years, highlighting the need for regeneration efforts to compete with England's monopoly on cricket bat manufacturing.
