President Trump's threat to impose tariffs on foreign adversaries has become a reality. Last week, his cabinet nominees faced challenges during their confirmation hearings. The National Assessment of Education Progress is given to fourth and eighth graders every two years. The results are dubbed the nation's report card, and math and reading scores trend lower than pre-pandemic levels. The Department of Education says the results are "heartbreaking," and students who are already behind won't be able to catch up. Education researcher at the American Institute for Research and the University of Washington, Dan Goldhaber, joins to discuss what states are the "bright spots," why it's hard for students to recover from pandemic learning loss, and the importance of quality teachers.
