For 35 years, Doron Dekel has led the development of many pioneering medical visualization and surgical navigation technologies. Amongst them: The first interactive and the first real-time medical 3-D visualization systems; The first user-programmable CT and MRI scanner UI; Free-hand real-time 3-D ultrasound visualization; The first optical motion tracking system based on pattern recognition; Automatic detection of colon polyps in CT; The first automatic full-body identification of patient anatomy in clinical CT; The first commercial surgical navigation system, used for guiding brain surgery; NaviENT - a compact and affordable sinus and skull base navigation system; and two generations of Navident – the market leading dynamic dental navigation system. Doron is also the Co-CEO of ClaroNav, a medical image processing company he co-founded in 2001. ClaroNav bootstrapped itself on its own profits to a lucrative exit in 2015, then rebooted itself again to rapid growth in surgical navigation, in the dental market in particular. The company is still wholly owned by its founders and employees.
