Today, we’re asking a deeper question meant to give you a moment of reflection. What are you optimizing for, or really, what are you doing all of this for?
There are many reasons people become creators. There are even more things that people optimize for. In this episode, we’re going to give you a few suggestions on how you can approach your own optimization and purpose.
Main Takeaways
- Own your answer to the question, because it could change over time. Change and growth come from being uncomfortable, so don’t try to (always) avoid it.
- Without balancing forces, optimizing for a single objective can become obsessive and it’s easy to lose sight of the original goal.
- It’s healthier to recognize what you’re optimizing for and go for it, rather than lying to yourself that you can do everything (family, health, career, etc.) with the limited hours in the day.
- Three questions to ask yourself:
- What are you optimizing for and what do your actions say you're optimizing for?
- What are your primary and secondary optimization goals?
- What is your optimization going to cost? What will you sacrifice for it?
