The Call to Discipleship

Jesus' calling of the first disciples marks a transformative moment in the understanding of discipleship. He invites Simon and Andrew, who are fishermen, to abandon their old identities and become 'fishers of men.' This invitation was highly inclusive, reaching out to those who were typically overlooked or deemed unworthy by other rabbis.
