Hip-hop is known for misogyny and sexism. Some of the genre's most famous figures continue to have worldwide success despite allegations of violence against women. Extraordinary journalist Joan Morgan's book, She Begat This: Twenty Years of the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tracks the artist's rise in the male dominated R&B scene, and comes to us to investigate the complex relationship of black feminism to hip-hop.
