Director Stacey Lee of UNDERPLAYED Talks Gender Inequality, Visibility & The Power Of Women In Music
For Episode 27, we have Stacey Lee who is the brilliant mind and director behind UNDERPLAYED, a film that explores gender inequality in the EDM industry and underground dance scene. This is Stacey's debut-feature length project and it will premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. UNDERPLAYED features the stories and experiences of some established superstar female DJs, producers, and artists like TOKIMONSTA, Apple Music's Anna Lunoe, and megastar DJ, Alison Wonderland. We also get to hear the voices from some emerging talent in the scene like Sherelle and the hard-working TYGAPAW who we've had on the podcast before. The film follows female pioneers, next-generation artists, and industry leaders who are championing the change and inspiring a more diverse pool of role models for future generations. Stacey made some time in her busy schedule to chat about the inspiration behind the film, exploring humanity within her storytelling and solutions on how to promote and enforce female inclusion within all aspects of the music industry. UNDERPLAYED is streaming now on the TIFF website so make sure to watch after the interview!VIDEO EPISODE ON YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PneXOG-d0k&t=123sListen to Club Management on ALL streaming platforms: https://linktr.ee/ClubManagementDonate On Patreon: www.patreon.com/clubmanagement1WATCH UNDERPLAYED: https://www.tiff.net/events/underplayed-event
