Dave talks about starting out as an entrepreneur and owned several businesses which resulted in a major tax problem. He used real estate investments to reduce his tax bill from $500,000 to zero and that led him into the world of real estate syndication.

He uses this shortcut to tap into someone else’s expertise. He stresses that the team and their track record are the two most important things when evaluating a partner. He doesn’t try to become an expert in the space, he finds the professionals in the space with a long track record of success.
