Michael Kao is CIO and Portfolio Manager of the Kao Family Office and is well-known for coining ‘the Dollar Wrecking Ball’, a metaphor to describe Dollar hegemony.

Having traded commodities at J.Aron and Goldman in the early 90s, Michael’s worldview embraces the significance of Oil. And subsequent experiences at Canyon Partners, a credit-oriented hedge fund, as well as the launch of his own investment firm, Akanthos Capital Management, leave Michael uniquely placed to provide a truly holistic view of what moves markets.

While the US Dollar has appreciated enormously against a basket of international currencies, from Pound Sterling to the Japanese Yen, I ask Michael if the Dollar is too strong for its own good, and if so, how long could this historic Dollar strength last? Enjoy!
