Alone in Wonderland is a story about Christine's 11-day thru-hike of the Wonderland Trail in Mt Rainier National Park. But it's so much more than that. As a woman in her 20s, Christine set out to redefine who she was and make meaning of the world around her. Solo backpacking and travel became the answer to many of life's questions. Throughout Alone in Wonderland, she searches for the line between what she calls herself and who she really is. In society, we often define ourselves by the things we do and the people we associate with, and in this story, Christine delves into the backpacking community and how she identifies as a rugged outdoors woman.
To many of us, our relationship with the outdoors is much greater than an appreciation of the beauty of nature or the desire to challenge ourselves physically. It's about healing, claiming and connecting with something bigger than ourselves.
Christine hikes to find her inner self, but she wrote this story for you. She wanted to let others who are searching for meaning and connection to know that they aren't alone.
