The Theory of Temporal Projection
Dr. Eliza Knight discusses a theory known as temporal projection, propounded by physicist Jean Pierre Garnier-Mile. According to the theory, a future version of oneself can communicate by whispering answers in dreams. Dr. Knight mentions that the theory has been taught since 2034, and she questions her patient about their physics teacher from that time, who currently happens to be 16 years old. This theory raises questions about identity and existence, as the patient feels unrecognized and seeks confirmation of their own reality.
The Pegasus Virus
The patient, claiming to be a time traveler from 2062, reveals their mission to prevent a woman named Marie Baker from boarding a plane on November 24th, 2022, as this event marks the beginning of the fourth and final wave of a virus called Pegasus. They explain that Pegasus is an advanced strain of coronavirus, constantly mutating, and capable of evading vaccines. The patient expresses the urgency of their mission, as Pegasus will eventually lead to the slow and progressive burnout of humanity, causing people to isolate themselves and avoid contact.
Love and Sacrifice
The patient discloses that their motivation for preventing the spread of Pegasus is love. They recount the story of losing their loved one, who fell victim to the virus, and their desire to see her again. Despite their mission, the patient acknowledges that their original timeline and their life with their loved one cannot be changed. They express a willingness to sacrifice their own life to create a better future, even if they are not recognized as a hero by others. The patient believes that their existence in the present is solely due to the therapist's recognition and acceptance of their story.
