Marni Griffin's Dream City

Marni Griffin, the first licensed female architect in the United States, designed houses, churches, and offices with a unique style reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints. Her technique, featuring trees and gardens in the foreground and foliage framing the buildings, was widely copied. Although she faced unfair treatment from her first boss, Frank Lloyd Wright, Marian didn't draw for recognition and remained focused on her work. She later proposed to architect Walter Burley Griffin, and together they won a competition to design the national capital of Australia, Canberra.
