The idea of decentralization and/or secession is an idea that our country was founded on. Now, in 2018, 39% of the country believes in the idea. We are probably headed for some sort of breakup in the next decade or so. States like California, Texas and New Hampshire have all had ballot referendums on it already. As things become more polarized and technology moves us even further away from needing a one size fits all Washington DC master, the idea may become even more popular.
