Ileana Damaso is a cyber intelligence analyst who took a very non-traditional route into the tech industry. She studied Mandarin for her undergraduate degree, with minors in Economics at the Beijing Language University in China.

During the ice breakers to start off the conversation, I found out the two most-used apps on her phone, the fact that she’s a morning person, the first job on her resume, how her friends and family would describe her, what her favorite holiday of the year is, and how she relaxes after a long day.

Ileana also shared her opinions on impostor syndrome, some of the skills she has found useful so far in her career, her thoughts on structured and unstructured education as well as experience in the tech industry, some advice for anyone thinking about transitioning into cybersecurity just like she did, a favorite quote that inspires her, and lots more.
