Great things can happen in the 2nd half of life? Today I am talking with my Mom about her second half of life. In this episode my Mom will share about starting a new career and forming and functioning in new and different communities.
Mom will share with us how:
- In the first half of life, God was preparing her for the second
- Having the courage to take the risk of starting a new career
- Enjoy new circles of community and new activities
Mom’s story includes becoming a part of the Christian publishing world at the age of 65. Writing and publishing three devotion books after age 65 certainly was not in her plans for her later years. She shares becoming a member of an on-line writing group and the community this has become for her. Becoming a “snowbird” in Florida and adjusting to six months in a new environment and a new way of life is also a part of the second half of life for my parents. New activities and new friends later in life can be quite rewarding. It was so much fun to relive these stories with my mom and hear her share the joy of living a full and rewarding life!
Clella Camp is a retired English/Composition teacher. She and her husband of 65 years are the parents of two children, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one foster great-granddaughter. Her family is her greatest joy in the second half of her life.
