This week we’re delighted to welcome Andrew Walker to the Value Perspective. Andrew is a portfolio manager at Rangeley Capital and the voice behind the popular podcast Yet Another Value Podcast. He authors a Substack under the same name. He is also a huge fantasy reader and has given us some of excellent book recommendations, that you’ll hear at the end of the episode. In the episode we discuss: Andrew’s take on whether the value investing philosophy is still alive and what it's like building a boutique firm based on that approach; the toughest challenges in investing from a behavioural standpoint; the one lasting behavioural edge that any investor can cultivate; how Andrew filters investment ideas, especially as someone who’s not your typical cigar butt investor; and finally, how he views communication with his investor base through his podcast, Substack and beyond, and how much comms is enough.
