Dr. Jacqueline Benson joins Dr. Hoye on this episode of the Psychology Talk Podcast. Dr. Benson is a licensed clinical psychologist and performing artist in Southern California. Dr. Benson has the unique perspective as a psychologist and a working actor. She currently sees clients in private practice at Deeper Than Color in Oakland, California. Dr. Benson also runs Center Stage Psychology which provides mental health consultation and resources for artists and performers.
Dr. Benson discusses how COVID-19 and the most recent influx of live performance cancellations have impacted the mental health of people working in the performing arts. She and Dr. Hoye also discuss the lives of performers and their mental health in regional theatre, the ups and downs of showbusiness and how acting has been a bedrock for their work as psychologists and psychotherapists.
