Dan Cooper Masters in Sport Science, PHD Student, Former SASR- Do You Have The Resources Available To Solve The Problem In Front Of You?
Today I had the pleasure of sitting down with Dan Cooper- a Man of Extremes.
So much so, that one of his spare time endeavours saw him single handedly walk 1000 miles across Alaska, on foot, pulling his pulk behind him.
He is a 22 yr military veteran, 18 years of which was with SASR, Australia's tier one Special Forces Unit.
He is also a Former Strength & Power Coach for the Queensland Reds Rugby Team, holds a Masters in Sport Science and is currently completing his PHD.
Dan was open to sharing his knowledge gained from his studies, his Special Forces experience and his time contributing to the Human Performance Cell at SASR.
He closely studies how people respond under fear, and his answers on this, and the psycho-biological model of fatigue will surprise and help you do better in any field.
We spoke about females entering into Special Forces, Executive Performance, Toughness and Resilience, Stress Inoculation and Cognitive Perception.
Dan stated that Sleep, Nutrition and Movement are the 3 keys to resilience and we spoke about teenagers being undernourished, sleep deprived and spending so much time on devices that de-evolution is occurring.
One part I loved was when he spoke about “Away From” goals vs “Towards” goals.
