The real Dr. Gonzo — the man who inspired the legendary character in Hunter S. Thompson’s “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” — was a writer and attorney who advocated for Chicano civil rights in the ‘60s. Zeta, as he was known, mysteriously disappeared off the coast of Mazatlan, Mexico in 1974.
