How a Forgotten Philosophy Can Liberate Kids and Their Parents
Aaron Stupple
In 'The Sovereign Child,' Aaron Stupple delves into the parenting movement known as 'Taking Children Seriously,' which posits that children's reasons, desires, emotions, and creativity are equivalent to those of adults. The book challenges conventional wisdom on rule enforcement in parenting, suggesting that treating children as autonomous individuals can liberate both kids and their parents. Using examples from his experience as a father of five, Stupple examines the harms of rule enforcement and presents alternative approaches based on this forgotten philosophy from the 20th century.
Drawdown
The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming
Blaffert & Wamhof (Artist group)
Drawdown is a seminal text on climate solutions, compiled by an international coalition of researchers, professionals, and scientists. The book presents 100 substantive, existing solutions to address climate change, ranging from clean energy and educating girls in lower-income countries to land use practices that pull carbon out of the air. It provides a roadmap to drawing down greenhouse gas emissions and emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and collective action to combat climate change[1][4][5].
Recently there have been a bunch of people shifting their focus or branding to be more inclusive and not always sound ‘pure climate tech’ — Tommy is one of those people. He recently claimed “ClimateTech is Mainstream now.” Because of it, he’s broadening his fund thesis.
This is the first of at least two conversations on this exact topic (stay tuned for next week’s episode with Grace and Adam from Equal Ventures).
