Allie X Talks 7th Floor, Reunite, and New Album "Happiness Is Going To Get You"

It’s only been 18 months since we last had Allie X on the couch talking about her third album Girl with No Face, but she’s already back with her new, fourth record, Happiness Is Going to Get You — a quasi-concept things of wonder, a repetitive piano note which begins the album and rings out as its closing coda. A record that centers around the time traveling hirsute character that is Infant Marie, with songs that examine male emotional repression, reuniting with oneself, a shitty uncle as a metaphor for the music industry, and so much more.

We talk about all this plus Allie X versus Allie Hughes, the beauty and sadness of trying to stay naive, songwriting for others, hard truths, suffering for one’s art, and most importantly how Allie is going to teach Zach how to sing.
