Devin is a teacher. He currently divides hi time between teaching Narrative Excavation, writing, and coaching physical practice.
Narrative Excavation is an introspective psychology practice he's been developing since 2013. Half a lifetime of competitive sports, overlapping with five years of full-time study in philosophy and psychology, followed by a decade deep dive into eastern psycho-spiritual disciplines and various physical disciplines: all of these brought to his attention the egregious shortcomings of existing approaches to learning, development, and self-understanding. His approach to physical training and Narrative Excavation attempts to reframe personal development within a paradigm of sustainable, value-oriented practice.
In this conversation Devin dives into the idea of civic value, and his reflections on the concept. He talks about the terms "community" and "friend", and challenges how they're used today. Devin and Kyle riff on uncertainty, curiosity and dogma. And, Devin shares his concern that often people make assumptions instead of ask questions.
