Gerardo is 56 years old and has served 27 years in prison for kidnapping. He grew up in a family from Tepito with a criminal father, but says he was into sports and didn't want that life. Still, he ended up selling stolen goods, running credit card scams, and eventually kidnapping several young people for ransom. His father was also locked up in the same prison, and Gerardo took on the problems his dad had inside to protect him.

Today, after nearly three decades behind bars, he lives alone carrying the weight of his sentence, making crafts and hoping to get out someday to see his father before he dies.

This is a story about how family neglect, normalizing crime, and chasing easy money can turn a young athlete into a kidnapper.
