- Doctrine of Recapitulation: All things are summed up in Christ. There is a unity to the entire divine economy that is found in the person and work of Christ. Christ is seen as the new Adam who succeeds where Adam failed. Not only is it just about one particular moment of salvation history but Christ sums up in himself all things, renews and restores creation, and restores humanity in the image and likeness of God.

Dr. Presley is Associate Professor of Church History and the Director of Research Doctoral Studies at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has written widely on the subject of early Christianity with a particular emphasis on Irenaeus.
