Minter Dialogue with Rupert Robson

Rupert Robson studied philosophy of mind at Oxford and pursued a career in banking until 2006, when he turned his attention to writing about how humankind might shape the world and in turn be shaped in the coming decades. The result is his book, "The Sentient Robot: The Last Two Hurdles in the Race to Build Artificial Superintelligence." In this conversation, we discuss his career path, the importance of the humanities in business, the soft and hard problems of consciousness, empathy and artificial intelligence, the route to Artificial Superintelligence, the important ethical considerations and how business might think about dealing with sentient machines.
