In today’s Talmud pages, Kiddushin 56 and 57, we hear the wild story of a torah scholar who stopped translating a simple word in the text when, for the first time, he was unable to understand its deeper meaning. Rabbi Dovid Bashevkin joins us to explore why it might have been that the Rabbi, who was able to find meaning in each use of a mundane word, would have had so much trouble with one use.
