For a young black rider competing in the embers of the American Civil War, Major Taylor had the toughest of rides. He was abused by crowds, threatened with lynchings and beaten unconscious by other riders. Yet by the end of the 1890s America and the world of cycling had its first black champion, the man they called the Whirlwind. Here to tell the story is documentary maker Cyrille Vincent, whose upcoming film Whirlwind brings to life Major Taylor's incredible tale.
