The Passive Hang - Episode 27 - Scott White, IFPhysio - Movement, Yoga and Pain

Scott White (@ifphysio) joins us on the Passive Hang! Scott is a yoga teacher, physiotherapist, although his approach to both may be different what you may think. On his page you can see the width and variety of his practice - loaded stretching, dynamic locomotion, rope levers and of course… great back bends.

This is a guy who is deep into yoga but hasn’t drunk the “koolaid” - he’s determined to creatively explore, challenge, investigate to his own end. And it makes sense, when we hear his story - plagued by chronic pelvic pain, unable to even walk, being let down by all the practitioners we believe to hold the “answers” - physiotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists etc… Scott had to find his own way. The answer… movement.

We cover a lot in this episode, from the movement “anti yoga” sentiment to a practical framework to approaching pain, to why attaching ourselves to an anatomical model of the body may be dangerous. It got me thinking a lot about my practice and the way I guide others.

Hope you guys enjoy, you can view Scott’s work at @ifphysio and www.innerfocusphysio.com.au
