BRICS Summit and Global Cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the need for the BRICS grouping to transform into a platform for peace, innovation, justice, and green development during the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia. He urged member states to promote cooperation among developing countries and highlighted the necessity of reforming the international financial system to reflect the current geopolitical landscape. The expansion of BRICS, which now includes ten countries, is seen as pivotal, as it now represents nearly half of the global population and a significant portion of global trade and GDP. This development positions BRICS as an influential entity in addressing global challenges and enhancing the voice of the Global South on the world stage.
