Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley answer listener questions—live on YouTube!

Questions Covered in This Episode:

  • How did you or have you explained the Trinity (or other theological concepts) to your kids?
  • Is it possible that the original ending to Mark’s gospel was lost? Is it consistent to hold this view as well as inerrancy of scripture?
  • My small group is reading Delighting in the Trinity right now. It’s brought up some questions about angels and their place in relation to the Trinity and humanity? How does free will work for them?
  • Why did John the Baptist still have his own disciples after Jesus came on the scene?
  • How do you start biblical education in church when your pastor doesn’t have a vision for it?
  • Could you break down the false/true disciples in Matthew 7:21-23, how could the false disciples have power to perform many miracles but were false?
  • How can one explain biblical gender roles without sounding discriminatory?
  • What does it mean to have a literate vs. literal reading of scripture?
  • Relationship between Calvinism and determinism? Can you hold to one without the other?
  • What is a good way to teach Esther so that it doesn’t fall into a stereotypical feelings level discussion?
  • Most theologically moving, non-literary work for us?…(painting, film, album)
  • Something you have changed your mind on theologically…
  • Do angels exist among us today but we just can’t see them?
  • Thoughts on meshing anabaptist traditions of pacifism, non-resistance, and separation of church and state in the context of american evangelicalism?
  • Can you please talk about a literate vs. literal reading of hyperbole in historical narrative. What cues can we look for to know we are reading hyperbole, how do we know when it is not?
  • Do you think that there are theological issues in the church that the COVID crisis is revealing?

Helpful Definitions:

  • Theological Compatibilism: We are free to act in accordance with our desires. God determines the course of the world in accordance with our desires that are either broken by sin or redeemed by grace.
  • Theological Determinism: Everything that is done is because of the superintendence of God.
  • Ecclesiology: Doctrine of the church.
  • Incommunicable Attributes: Things that can only be true of God.
