Deep dives
Finding Inspiration from Challenging Experiences
Juliana's decision to pursue psychology and clinical mental health counseling stemmed from her experiences as a first-generation college student and Latina. She was inspired to fill the gap she felt growing up as she rarely saw mental health professionals from similar backgrounds. By becoming a licensed therapist, Juliana aims to diversify the mental health field and provide representation for individuals who may not have previously felt seen.
Navigating Cultural Identity in Education and Career
Juliana's journey through predominantly white educational institutions highlighted the importance of cultural representation and breaking through stigma within the Hispanic Latinx community. She shared the challenges of language nuances in discussing emotions in therapy and the scarcity of Latinx professionals in therapeutic roles. Juliana's commitment to cultural diversity and inclusion informs her career path and aspirations within the mental health field.
Balancing Multiple Roles for Well-Rounded Development
While managing a part-time role in private practice as a mental health therapist, Juliana also thrives in a full-time position in real estate, showcasing her adaptability and dedication to both careers. She finds that her diverse roles complement each other, providing unique skills and perspectives that enhance her effectiveness as a therapist. Juliana's ability to balance multiple professional identities reflects her commitment to personal growth and professional fulfillment.
Empowering Latinx Community Through Personal Branding
Juliana's entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond therapy into launching her personal brand focused on empowering Latinas and people of color in their mental health transformations. Her advocacy for representation and change-making through public speaking, workshops, and engagement with nonprofits signals her broader impact beyond traditional therapy settings. By embracing her multifaceted career path, Juliana exemplifies the potential for therapists to create meaningful change beyond the therapy room.
