But it was with the BBC in the 90s that Mark Lawrenson came into his own as one of the most recognisable pundits of the embryonic Premier League; all while juggling a marketing gig for Guinness and the surely nightmarish role of Keegan's defensive coach in Newcastle's most attacking period.
