The scam operated by sending individuals abroad for non-existent filming opportunities, resulting in significant financial losses. The depth of the deception was compounded by the con artist's ability to convincingly impersonate powerful female producers, using various accents and speech patterns. Despite initial assumptions of a team behind the operation, investigators, led by Nicole Costellas, discovered that a single individual was responsible for the widespread fraud.
