Federico is THE poster-boy of Italian Ice Cream who co-founded GROM Gelato in 2003 and grew it to 98 shops in 15 countries before they sold it to Unilever. Recently he co-founded LEC together with the Formula One Driver Charles Leclerc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Leclerc.

In this episode, Federico talks with us about his journey starting with no clue & no money from scratch believing that there is always room for doing it better, even in crowded markets like the ice cream industry.

Our main learnings from this conversation are:

1. You need lots of passion and energy.
2. Set a strong mission from Day 1, which is “impossible to reach”. In his case: Making the best Gelato in the world.
3. Flavor first.
4. Determination is key for every successful entrepreneur.
5. The answer is always the smile of a happy customer.
6. In difficult situations, work out to clear your mind to regain your drive.
7. If you have a problem, work harder.
8. Don’t work after dinner. Wake up earlier the next day.
9. The right co-founder is more than a brother.
10. Dream big.
11. Create a circle of trust to share your doubts. Listen. Interpret. Take decision.
12. If you don’t have enough data, decide with emotion.
13. Innovation doesn’t come from data, but from emotion.
14. An entrepreneur should know a little bit about everything.
15. Select the right people, who are better than you.
