The Role of the Full Focus Wellness Planner
The Full Focus Wellness Planner is designed to enhance self-care and overall well-being, offering users the ability to track various aspects of their lives. This new edition replaces the conventional planner and includes sections for monitoring sleep, hydration, nutrition, and personal joy and stress levels, alongside traditional goal-setting features like the 'big three' tasks. The integration of these wellness elements aims to support users in maintaining balance and prioritizing their health. Feedback from the initial users indicates positive experiences and significant enthusiasm within the planner community.
Understanding the Distraction Zone
The concept of the distraction zone refers to tasks that individuals undertake that do not align with their highest contributions or goals, often leading to wasted time. This phenomenon can be fueled by personal ego, where individuals feel compelled to handle tasks themselves rather than delegating them, believing they are the most capable. Moreover, passion can sometimes lead individuals to engage in activities they enjoy while neglecting their actual responsibilities, masking a lack of proficiency in those areas. History also plays a role, as individuals may feel comfort in sticking to familiar tasks despite their relevance to current goals.
Identifying Motivations and Goals
Motivation plays a key role in effective goal setting, distinguishing between intrinsic and extrinsic drives. Clients often grapple with motivations rooted in their past experiences, leading to a fear of articulating their true aspirations due to potential judgment. Coaches help clients clarify these motivations, supporting them in building goals that genuinely inspire them rather than conforming to perceived expectations. Recognizing the importance of visibility in achieving goals, clients are encouraged to consistently engage with their goals rather than allowing them to languish without focus.
What is your go-to task when you're supposed to be doing another more important task? Is it organizing your desk? Checking Slack messages? Folding laundry? Whatever your go-to task is, it will lead you to the same place: The Distraction Zone. This is a concept first described in Michael Hyatt's book, Free to Focus. It describes the area where you're not contributing anything valuable towards your or your team's goals. We're all going to slide in there occasionally, but the goal is to minimize the amount of time we spend in there.
In this episode, Blake, Courtney, and Verbs explain what the Distraction Zone is and provide three reasons why you might find yourself there. After that, in a Focus on This first, we hear a selection from an episode of Full Focus' other podcast: Business Accelerator. In this segment, host Joel Miller speaks with business coach Dustin Guyton about goalsetting and the things that stand in our way. There's some very valuable stuff in there that you won't want to miss.
