"What I'm going to say, people are going to hate...But you have to not care what happens. You have to not care what the result is, get completely past the wins and the losses." Cooper Kupp Super Bowl LVI MVP
As we continue to make our way through NFL Training camps, we are a little over a week away from Kick off, and we are sitting with star players from around the league getting inside scoop, hearing never-told-before stories and going inside the locker room mentality of the 32 teams as they prepare for the 2024 season.
On this episode of the Pivot Podcast in partnership with Fanatics, we catch up with the 2022 Super Bowl champs, the Los Angeles Rams, and who better to sit with than the former Super Bowl MVP and Triple Crown winner, Cooper Kupp. It's been two years since the wide receiver has played a full season. But 2024 is different. He's finally healthy again, and ready to bounce back stronger than before.
Ryan, Fred, and Channing chat with Kupp for a look back on his journey and insight into the 2024 Rams, and how Kupp is trying to mentor the young roster while remaining one of the NFL’s best every Sunday.
Kupp gets honest about the entirety of his career, the Super Bowl runs, the injuries derailing some of his success, playing along side stars like Odell Beckham Jr and Aaron Donald and how Head Coach Sean McVay has given unprecedented guidance and leadership not just on the field but beyond football.
The star wide-receiver reveals the locker room secrets and team game plan going into Super Bowl LVI, including a never-heard-before story about how the game was set up to showcase veteran receiver OBJ. And, even though Kupp won MVP, he shares what really made that night special for him.
Although his mindset on football has shifted over the years, Cupp Is more committed than ever to the game he loves and the people he works with. What used to be a do-or-die mentality has evolved into a more balanced approach—he’s all about preparing, staying healthy, and giving it his all on the field, without stressing over what certain tv analysts say or people outside the building think.
A lot of that "slide off your back" mentality stems from Cupp’s tight-knit relationship with his wife, who has been by his side since meeting at a high school track meet. The two got married with just $3 in their joint bank account, and while that number has grown, their bond has stayed rock solid. He shares how this relationship has always been his biggest motivation, keeping him grounded no matter what life throws their way.
As for the upcoming season, he’s pumped about what’s ahead. He’s focused on providing guidance for younger guys like Puka Nacua, but don’t think for a second he’s done leaving it all on the field—he’s got his eyes on another Super Bowl run.
