Episode 643: The Courage to Stand Up with Clara Martin
Aug 8, 2022
51:16
Clara Martin medically retired from the US Army with PTSD from military sexual trauma, and chronic migraines. She went to work as a peer counselor/victim advocate at a local nonprofit, and decided that she absolutely didn’t need therapy. Nine months later, after suffering a psychotic breakdown and being 5150’d by her concerned mother and brother, Clara realized that was probably not the best decision she’d ever made.
The recovery process was a long and arduous one, aided by an incredibly supportive family and community of friends, a fantastic therapist and psychiatrist, volunteer work in disaster relief with Team Rubicon and on crisis hotlines, and writing - three books are available on Amazon here, and she writes a weekly blog here, and just finished her first graduate course in clinical mental health counseling.
