We have been considering Chapter 14 of the Confession which opens up the subject, Of Saving Faith. We have worked our way through its three paragraphs. In this talk I need to say something about the nature of saving faith. Reformed theology traditionally speaks of saving faith as consisting of three things. The Reformed taught that faith consisted of notitia (knowledge), assensus (assent), and fiducia (trust). This teaching is certainly true, but I think it will be helpful to refer to the fact that in the Bible saving faith is described in Two Complementary Ways.
