Rehash: A Web3 Podcast
S2 E15 | Surveillance Capitalism & Web3 Search w/Anastasia Uglova
Anastasia Uglova is the Head of Communications and Ecosystem Development at Lighthouse, a web3 navigation engine.
We kickoff the episode getting to know Anastasia, her background, and how she got started in web3. We set the stage by defining digital privacy and breaking down the basic fundamentals of digital privacy. We dive into the difference between informed consent and cognitive consent and Anastasia gives us an overview of surveillance capitalism.
We talk about blockchain technology as it applies to digital privacy and Anastasia addresses her major concerns with privacy in web3. Although there are issues with permanently public data, lack of cognitive consent, and the potential to repeat the same problems we faced in web2, Anastasia is still excited for the opportunity to redesign digital privacy from the ground up with web3 tech.
We look to the future and Anastasia illustrates what changes she would like to see with regards to digital privacy and blockchain tech. We also dive into what she’s working on over at Lighthouse, and we imagine what a perfect web3 search engine would look like. We close out our conversation with a game of this or that and Anastasia gives us the inside scoop on her latest article.
