Jean Marie Hussey has over 30 years experience in Gymnastics, She is a current national team coach, based in Virginia, USA.

In this episode we discuss the recent Netflix release ‘Athlete A’, uncovering the level of child abuse across elite Gymnastics in the USA. 

Jean reflects on her experiences in Gymnastics as a performer and coach and tackles some of the tough questions the documentary raises, including; How does this happen? Why does it happen? And, What can be done to prevent it in future?

Jean shares her thoughts on how parents, coaches and gymnasts can help each other to create a positive culture focusing on developing the whole child and why ‘potential’ might be a dangerous word in such a highly competitive sport.
