29. Climate Justice - Grassroots to Global
A young activist, Nicholas Omonuk has done much work in a few short years to raise awareness and build climate justice.
He has seen and lived the impact of climate changes from the front lines. He grew up in a pastoralist family in Pallisa, Eastern Uganda. He comes from the Iteso tribe, where boys take care of livestock and girls search to find water.
In December 2022, Nicholas represented the Most Affected People and Areas (MAPA) at COP27 alongside prominent young activists. In 2023, he founded End Fossil Occupy Uganda, a local climate movement demanding a phase-out of fossil fuels and a just transition for Africa.
