Significant progress has been made on food security issues globally over the previous decades. However, significant risks remain, particularly in the form of under analysed tail risks that could reduce food output by between 10-90% globally, placing billions at risk of starvation. The threat here presents an opportunity for EA aligned researchers and funding to make a real difference, and in this talk Michael Hinge lays out some of the research recently completed concerning the most severe food catastrophic risks, what remains to be done and how people can get involved.
