Undemocratic nature of recall election

The recall election in California for Governor Newsom is highly undemocratic. The process allows for a simple yes or no vote on removing the governor from office, followed by a second question to select a replacement candidate. With 46 candidates on the ballot and no minimum turnout requirement, a candidate with as little as 10% of the vote could potentially become the new governor. The recall effort is backed by a coalition of anti-immigrant, anti-worker, anti-environment forces seeking to impose their extreme right-wing agenda.
