Joel was stunned after hearing his father’s story for the first time while sharing his testimony with USC Shoah Foundation for their Visual History Archive in 1998. It took another 21 years and an inspiring trip to Israel for Joel to finally watch his father’s full recorded testimony. Joel subsequently interviewed his father about the details of his Holocaust survival and authored a book to ensure his story was never forgotten.
