If you’re like me and you can never remember the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist, the difference is that a psychiatrist is a medical doctor and can prescribe medication. While psychologists typically hold doctorate degrees, they do not attend medical school and are not medical doctors.
As we’ll hear more soon, people in this field are in incredible demand, particularly for psychologists that specialize in children. the American Psychological Association estimates that only about 4,000 out of more than 100,000 US clinical psychologists are child and adolescent clinicians.
