We are rejoined by Kentucky’s Dr. Chris Morris to discuss some real world situations that a rise being in the “performance science” world. After a quick catch up with Doc, Chris gets right into some of the strategies he has had some good success with, and the reasons he feels they were successful. He then is open enough to share with us some of the areas and situations where he has had issues with different portions of the “science” area of athletics, including how he found his role and position in the department in Lexington and the steps he took to get there. These four values are what drive his direction at UK. These values have changed how they assess the athletes, develop programs, monitor the process, and communicate through out the department. Included in this is an awesome way they profile their football players to make sure progress is made and increases buy in. Dr. Morris finishes off by sharing some strategies they are utilizing at UK to communicate the data with athletes that is becoming very successful to help push improve performance. We finish off with Dr. Morris giving his one piece of advice he would give to me if he could go back 10 years and help me build a program.
