In this episode, we speak to Nick Atherton, an experienced mergers & acquisitions broker with a specialist focus on the facilities management, software & tech spaces, as founding director of his Mayfair-based boutique firm Morphose Capital Partners.

We explore how he got into the industry over a decade ago, struggling to find traction in the early years and since then building a great network of entrepreneurs, buyers, sellers & advisors. As well as learning from his wildly successful clients, we discuss his personal experience with UHNW individuals, how often financial success doesn't lead to happiness and what the process for selling a business, engagement to the transaction, actually looks like.

He explains how many factors can influence a valuation - EBITDA, industry, age of business and recurring revenue amongst others - as well as how for many sellers, finding a well-suited 'strategic' buyer can often be the most lucrative. We dive into what a day to day and month to month work lifestyle looks like in this niche, super private industry - as well as the power of building a great network, balancing work & play and building a leadership team that allows you to play to your strengths as an entrepreneur and deal maker.
